JOHOR BARU – Businessman Deepak Jaikishan has denied contacting MCA President Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong to demand that he retract his statements regarding the importation of eggs from India.

This comes after Wee revealed in the Dewan Rakyat that Deepak had attempted to “silence” him over the matter.

Wee also claimed Deepak had said the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) had made arrangements for the Ayer Itam MP to make an official statement on the issue.

In a statement issued this evening, Deepak claims that he does not possess the MCA president’s phone number.

Additionally, Deepak said he will be consulting his lawyers to take legal action over Wee’s statements.

“I refer to the statement made by Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong in Parliament today on March 15, 2023, wherein he claimed that I had called him in order to settle matters pertaining to (the importation of) eggs from India.

“I hereby reiterate that I have never called him nor do I have his phone number.

“I have referred this matter to my lawyers and will pursue his lies in court immediately,” Deepak’s statement read.

Earlier, the PMO said that individuals misusing their name or position is a serious matter, and will not hesitate to take legal action.

Although the brief statement by the PMO did not mention any parties in particular, it is believed that it is in reference to Wee’s claim in the Dewan Rakyat concerning Deepak. – The Vibes, March 15, 2023
